چکیده

In this paper we examine a technique to improve the performance of serial, matched-filter acquisition in directsequence spread-spectrum packet radio communications. Each packet transmission includes an acquisition preamble, and the preamble sequence is changed at the boundaries of predefined time epochs based on a pseudorandom sequence generator. The acquisition algorithm considered in this paper exploits knowledge of the preamble sequence employed during each time epoch to adaptively choose the acquisition threshold. The performance of the adaptive-threshold acquisition algorithm is evaluated and compared with one previously considered [1] in which the threshold is fixed. It is shown that the adaptive-threshold algorithm results in good average performance, even with a large a priori uncertainty in the signal-to-noise ratio. It is also shown that the average performance with the adaptive threshold is superior to that obtained with the fixed-threshold algorithm of [1].

Mathematical modeling and performance analysis for a two-stage acquisition scheme for direct-sequence spread-spectrum CDMA

The problem of acquisition of synchronism is considered for direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems. For large systems with large timing uncertainties, it has been shown recently that acquisition in the presence of multiple-access interference may impose a significant limitation on capacity. This leads us to consider a system in which timing uncertai...

Extending the Radar Dynamic Range using Adaptive Pulse Compression

The matched filter in the radar receiver is only adapted to the transmitted signal version and its output will be wasted due to non-matching with the received signal from the environment. The sidelobes amplitude of the matched filter output in pulse compression radars are dependent on the transmitted coded waveforms that extended as much as the length of the code on both sides of the target loc...

Adaptive Multiple-Antenna Receiver for CDMA Mobile Reception

This paper examines the utilization of multiple antennas for Direct-Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) mobile communications at the mobile receiver. A linear singleuser multiple-antenna receiver is derived and its performance is compared with that of the conventional matched filter. An adaptive implementation of the receiver is also considered. The results show that the multiple-a...

CDMA packet recognition and signal acquisition using LMS-based adaptive receiver

In this paper, we propose a new packet recognition and signal acquisition scheme with an adaptive linear filter based on an Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm for code-division multiple access (CDMA) packet systems. In CDMA systems, conventional receivers with matched filtering suffer from the near-far problem due to multiple access interference (MAI). In general, closed-loop power control is us...

Improved Adaptive Median Filter Algorithm for Removing Impulse Noise from Grayscale Images

Digital image is often degraded by many kinds of noise during the process of acquisition and transmission. To make subsequent processing more convenient, it is necessary to decrease the effect of noise. There are many kinds of noises in image, which mainly include salt and pepper noise and Gaussian noise. This paper focuses on median filters to remove the salt and pepper noise. After summarizin...
